WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING PRADAXA CASES
People who suffer from the medical condition atrial fibrillation may be at risk of developing a blood clot, leading to stroke. To combat the risk of blood clots and stroke, Pradaxa (dabigatran) prevents platelets in the blood from coagulating. Unfortunately, the blood thinner also has severe side effects.
Pradaxa’s Many Dangerous Side Effects
Pradaxa has many dangerous side effects, some of which can be fatal. These include the risk of:
- Uncontrolled and severe bleeding;
- Brain hemorrhages;
- Liver failure;
- Spinal blood clots; and
- Heart attack.
While Pradaxa was introduced as an alternative to another anticoagulant medication, Warfarin, due to its supposed safety, there is
no antidote if a patient suffers from uncontrolled bleeding while taking Pradaxa (there
is an antidote to bleeding caused by Warfarin).
According to the FDA, the risk of bleeding is increased for patients who are over 75 years of age, have kidney problems, have a stomach ulcer, or take other blood-thinning medications.
Filing a Pradaxa Lawsuit
When a defective drug causes a patient harm, the patient (or the patient’s family) has the right to take legal action directly against the drug’s manufacturer. The manufacturer of Pradaxa is Boehringer Ingelheim, which has already settled a handful of Pradaxa lawsuits and claims. If you believe that you may be eligible to receive a settlement award based on harm that you have suffered as a direct result of taking Pradaxa, you need to consult with an attorney who is experienced in
pharmaceutical litigation immediately.
