What is Zostavax?

Zostavax is a single-injection vaccine against shingles and contains the live chickenpox (herpes zoster) virus. The vaccine is approximately about fourteen times stronger than the chickenpox vaccine given to children. It is also an expensive shot and only prevents shingles in about 50% of patients.

Zostavax Side Effects

Ironically potential Zostavax side effects includes shingles, the very same disease it is supposed to prevent, and chickenpox. Both of these illnesses can have serious health complications. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requested that Merck add "shingles" to the possible side effects from Zostavax. Zostavax injuries can be long-term and include stroke, lupus, meningitis, and other serious health conditions.

What is Shingles?

Shingles is a painful skin rash that occurs when the virus that causes chickenpox is re-activated. It can cause blindness and excruciating chronic pain, especially for the elderly.

ZOSTAVAX LAWSUIT

Napoli Shkolnik PLLC is evaluating claims for a Zostavax Shingles Vaccine lawsuit. In 2006, the FDA approved Zostavax as a vaccine prescription to prevent Shingles for individuals over 50. Studies have now shown that Zostavax can cause a person vaccinated with the drug to get Shingles. If you have been diagnosed with the Shingles virus after taking Zostavax, we strongly encourage you to contact the experienced pharmaceutical litigation attorneys at Napoli Shkolnik PLLC for a free, confidential consultation.
