‘Fracking’ Settlement for over 50 residents of Dimock, PA, in actions against a natural gas company for contamination of their drinking water supply wells. Featured in the award-winning 2010 documentary Gasland that focuses on the environmental impacts of natural gas drilling operations. The contamination by the methane gas harvesting was also found to have a global warming effect as well as being determined as leading to diverse cancers. The problem was caused by defective cement walls, which allowed the gas to seep into neighboring water supplies that affected 24 neighboring properties.
