Plaintiff was a union carpenter who tripped over a loose piece of metal track left by another trade on steps leading to the basement of a building under construction. Plaintiff was headed to the basement to obtain materials for the work he was doing.  Plaintiff sustained a serious sprain of his right ankle that was treated conservatively and did not require surgery.  Despite finding of permanent injury, plaintiff returned to full work duties after only three months and has remained working since then. A very advantageous settlement was obtained during mediation directly with the general contractor of the job.  A reduction in the amount of the workers compensation lien was also obtained.
