Napoli Shkolnik Files Lawsuit on behalf of Pepperell, MA, against Industrial Giants over PFAS Contamination

March 3, 2026

Napoli Shkolnik has filed a federal lawsuit in the District of Massachusetts on behalf of the town of Pepperell, MA, targeting six major industrial defendants, including Honeywell International Inc., Georgia-Pacific, Neenah Inc., Ahlstrom-Munksjo Paper Inc., Hollingsworth & Vose Company, and Weyerhaeuser Company, for their role in allegedly contaminating the town's drinking water with toxic PFAS “forever chemicals.” The lawsuit alleges that the defendants released hazardous chemicals from their industrial operations into the Nashua River, resulting in the contamination of the town's groundwater.

The firm’s team, led by Partners Paul J. Napoli and Hank Naughton, is focused on securing justice for the over 9,000 residents of Pepperell, whose drinking water has been tainted by PFAS contamination for years. PFAS exposure has been linked to serious health conditions, including cancer, immune system damage, and developmental complications. The town is seeking to hold the companies accountable for the cleanup costs, which could exceed $28 million.

In an official statement, Paul J. Napoli emphasized, “Thousands of Pepperell residents have been drinking PFAS-contaminated water for decades because Honeywell and other companies released dangerous chemicals from their facilities into the waterways feeding the community’s drinking supply. These are real families who will face real health consequences from these toxins. We are working on behalf of the Town of Pepperell to hold parties accountable, push for remediation, and advocate for changes to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
