The National Rural Water Association (NRWA) represents more than 31,000 rural utility systems is the latest to sue 3M, DuPont, Chemours and others over costs to clean up “forever” chemicals contained in the companies’ firefighting foam products from local groundwater. “We're seeking to represent essentially all of the rural water authorities in the United States,” the group’s attorney Matthew Lavin of Napoli Shkolnik PLLC told Law360 on Wednesday. “These are small localities that don't have resources to pay for expensive testing equipment and remediation if there is pollution that's found.”
