What is Tepezza?

Tepezza is a FDA approved treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED) released to the public in 2022. The manufacturer, Horizon Therapeutics, did not issue adequate warnings about the potentially permanent side effects of administering Tepezza. 

Known Tepezza Side Effect

Side effects of Tepezza, including tinnitus, can occur after only two infusions. Another major, and possibly permanent, side effect of Tepezza is significant hearing loss, which has lifelong physical and emotional effects. 

A 2023 NIH study mentions that 80% of Tepezza users have experienced significant hearing loss with fewer than 4 IV treatments.

Is the manufacturer responsible?

Horizon Therapeutics, the manufacturer of Tepezza has only issued tepid warnings regarding these adverse side effects of their drug. 

Under New York state law and in  most other states, Horizon Therapeutics has a duty to strongly warn customers about strong side-effects. A mention buried on a list is not enough.
