$500,000 Environmental Litigation Settlement
A dry cleaning business in Long Island, New York was improperly disposing its cleaning solvents which entailed cleaning products made from Tetrachloroethylene (PERC) via dry wells which were not insulated as they needed to be. The end result was the introduction of the cleaning solvent to the water system of this town. The solvent was harmful once ingested. As a consequence of this $500,000 settlement, the appropriate centers of water treatment must be set up assuring that while the company continued its operation, its disposal of these chemicals did not undermine anybody and the water treatment facilities impacted by the introduction of the cleaning products were improved to correctly manage and treat water in the ideal way.
