Napoli Shkolnik is proud to announce that Partner Shayna E. Sacks<\/a> was named to the Plaintiffs\u2019 Steering Committee in the In Re: Proton-Pump Inhibitor Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2789) by United Stated District Judge Claire C. Cecchi of the District of New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Ms. Sacks brings her substantial mass tort legal acumen and experience to the diverse group of attorneys that were selected by the Hon. Cecchi. In her role, she will oversee all Currently pending individual personal injury and wrongful death cases; Napoli Shkolnik alone has over 1,000 cases.<\/p>\n

Prescription proton pump inhibitors <\/a>(PPI\u2019s) are used for controlling acid production in the stomach, which can cause heartburn and\/or acid reflux. Unfortunately, many patients have experienced life-threatening side effects after taking these medications such as Prilosec, Nexium and\/or Prevacid. Some individuals have to take a prescription every day to control the acid production in their stomach even though there might be other remedies available to reduce acid reflux issues naturally.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit alleges that as a result of ingesting defective PPI\u2019s, individuals have suffered and continue to suffer from kidney injuries including, acute interstitial nephritis, cornice kidney disease, renal failure and end stage renal disease. As a member of the steering committee, Ms. Sacks will continue to investigate and develop the claims in this case by overseeing the coordination, preparation, and presentation of the necessary legal documentation.
