What is the BioZorb Implant and Why Are Lawsuits Being Filed?

The BioZorb® surgical marker is a medical device that was marketed as an innovative solution for women undergoing breast-conserving surgery, such as a lumpectomy. It is a small, coil-shaped device designed to remain in the breast tissue and help radiation oncologists and surgeons identify the surgical site.

Unfortunately, many patients have reported serious and unexpected complications after implantation. Instead of providing a medical benefit, the device has caused lasting pain, infections, and in some cases, disfigurement. Some women required additional surgeries to remove the device or to address complications caused by its migration or erosion through the skin.

Commonly reported BioZorb complications include:
  • Device Migration: the implant shifts out of its intended position.
  • Device Erosion: the device breaks through skin or tissue, sometimes visibly protruding.
  • Seroma: painful fluid build-up near the implant site.
  • Chronic Infection or Inflammation: ongoing medical issues requiring antibiotics or other interventions.
  • Surgical Removal: many patients have been forced to undergo corrective surgery.

These outcomes are not only physically painful, but they can also be emotionally distressing and financially overwhelming. Lawsuits are being filed against the manufacturer for failing to properly warn patients and doctors about these risks.

Who May Qualify for a BioZorb Lawsuit?

You may be eligible to file a claim if you:

  • Received a BioZorb implant during or after breast surgery.
  • Developed complications such as infection, persistent pain, or device migration.
  • Required additional surgeries to remove or correct problems with the implant.
  • Experienced medical costs, emotional distress, or loss of quality of life as a result of the device.

Even if you are unsure whether your complications are connected to the BioZorb device, our legal team can help review your medical history and determine if you may have a case.

Important: Statutes of limitation apply in medical device cases. This means there is only a limited window of time to pursue legal action. Starting your claim as soon as possible may increase your chances of receiving compensation.
