Ms. Liakos, who recently named as a member of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Steering Committee in Viagra Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2), also said that “the best results would include fair and adequate compensation for those injured by the drug, but would also include Pfizer educating physicians and consumers about the risks associated with this drug. If people are aware of the risks and still choose to take the medication, at least they are informed about the consequences rather than being led to believe there are none.”

“Pfizer should educate physicians, consumers about Viagra risks, ” says Napoli Shkolnik attorney Jennifer Liakos during a recent in-depth interview with the Northern California Record.

Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) is used to treat erectile dysfunction disorder in men. Unfortunately an increased risk of melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer, is one of  the many possible side effects of Viagra. Among the allegations cited in the lawsuit is that Pfizer failed to warn consumers and health care providers of the potentiallyfatal side effects associated with taking Viagra. Multiple federal lawsuits were consolidated in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the panel selected the California federal court for the Multi-district Litigation (MDL).

“My goals as a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee are to utilize my skills and experience and work with the rest of the Steering Committee and Executive Committee to obtain the best result for those injured by Pfizer’s failure to warn about the deadly side effects of Viagra,” Liakos said. “Melanoma is a very serious and life-threatening cancer. This is a very competent and hard-working group of lawyers who will work hard to obtain the best results for our clients.”
