Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder LawsuitIn the United States, people have seen a rapid increase in litigation for product liability.  A product liability case is a type of case that can be brought against any business that makes, distributes, or sells a product if that product causes an injury or other harm to the user of the product.

Some product manufacturers are facing product liability class action lawsuits in 2022. Here are a few you should know about:

Monsanto’s Roundup Lawsuit

Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller contains glyphosate, an ingredient that poses health risks for humans, such as cancer. Monsanto faces lawsuits from people who developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) after using Roundup over a long period of time.

The lawsuits claim that Monsanto failed to adequately warn consumers about the potential dangers of exposure to Roundup. Monsanto faces thousands of lawsuits in federal and state courts over the herbicide.

Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder Lawsuit

Thousands of women sued Johnson & Johnson claiming their use of the company’s baby powder caused ovarian cancer. The cases were part of a larger group of lawsuits over claims that baby powder and other talcum products cause cancer.

Johnson & Johnson is accused of failing to warn customers about the dangers of using baby powder, meaning many people exposed themselves to asbestos-contaminated talcum products.

Zantac Lawsuit

Zantac is a medication for acid reflux. Some people allege that Nexium, an ingredient in Zantac, causes stomach cancer and alleges that the company withheld information about its product causing cancer.

Nexium now faces lawsuits from users claiming they developed stomach cancer after taking the drug over long periods of time. The lawsuits are part of a larger group of lawsuits over claims that Nexium and other proton pump inhibitors cause cancer.

JUUL E-Cigarettes Lawsuit

Various e-cigarette manufacturers, such as JUUL, are being sued for failing to disclose the known dangers of nicotine. An increasing number of e-cigarette users are suffering from serious heart and lung injuries.

As a result of these injuries, JUUL is facing many lawsuits for aggressively marketing e-cigarettes to teenagers, without disclosing the dangers of nicotine.

Baby Formula Lawsuits

Parents are suing baby formula manufacturers for failing to disclose the dangers of using their products. Some cow’s milk-based Similac and Enfamil baby formula products have allegedly been linked to a disease called necrotizing enterocolitis, or NEC, which can be fatal to infants, especially premature infants.

3M Earplug Lawsuit

3M faces lawsuits from people who used the company’s Dual-Ended Combat Arms™ earplugs while serving in the U.S. military and later suffered hearing loss or tinnitus. 3M allegedly knew that its earplugs did not work properly, yet failed to disclose this fact to the U.S. government and military.

Firefighting Foam Lawsuit

An aqueous firefighting-foam lawsuit involves thousands of firefighters who allege that they developed serious illnesses after exposure over many years. The foam used in fighting fires contains a potentially dangerous chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).

Many of these firefighters are now seeking compensation from the companies that made the toxic products used in fighting fires for creating a dangerous environment without properly warning firefighters of the risks.

Additionally, community water supplies may have been contaminated by the AFFF that seeped into the soil and ended up in groundwater. There are also studies indicating that livestock and their milk have become ill as a result of PFAS contamination.

Philips CPAP Machine Lawsuit

In June 2021, many of Philips CPAP machines were recalled due to potential health risks. The recall notice informed consumers that the sound-muffling foam could generate tiny inhalable particles that might cause serious health problems.

After the recall notice, many consumers then filed lawsuits claiming Philips had knowingly exposed them to dangerous toxins.

Victims of a Faulty Product?

It is important for those who are affected by any of the above product liability cases to receive the compensation they deserve. Victims of product liability cases often suffer serious injuries that can have a lasting impact on their health and wellbeing. In some cases, these victims may even lose their lives.

It is only fair that those who are harmed by a product be given the opportunity to receive compensation for the injuries they have suffered. This compensation can help victims pay for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages that have resulted from their injury.

Dangerous product victims deserve fair compensation for their serious injuries. For a free consultation with an experienced personal injury attorney dealing with product liability cases, contact Napoli Shkolnik PLLC.
